Civil Rights/Title VI

The Gatlinburg Mass Transit System operates programs without regard to race, color, or national origin. Gatlinburg Mass Transit System is a grant recipient of the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration and complies with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964; 49 CFR, Part 21; related statutes and regulations to ensure that no person shall be excluded from participation in or be denied benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination on the grounds of race, color, or national origin, under any program or activity receiving financial assistance from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

City of Gatlinburg Language Assistance Plan for Limited English Proficiency (LEP) Persons

  It is the goal of the City of Gatlinburg’s Mass Transit Department to reduce the language barriers for LEP individuals seeking to utilize the trolley services, to ensure that they are accessible to these persons. To achieve this goal, the Mass Transit Department will take ongoing, reasonable steps consistent with the fundamental mission of the City, to ensure meaningful access by LEP persons to the public transportation services provided by the City of Gatlinburg.  The City of Gatlinburg has adopted a Limited English Proficiency (LEP) plan and route map in Spanish to help make our trolley service more accessible to riders whose primary language is Spanish.

 

Paratransit (ADA) Services

Gatlinburg Mass Transit Paratransit service is an origin-to-destination service for the mobility- impaired living anywhere within the Gatlinburg city limits or within three-quarters of a mile either side of a fixed route, whichever applies.

All Gatlinburg Mass Transit Trolleys are lift-equipped for wheelchairs and/or other mobility aids and may be accessed at any designated trolley stop. ADA Paratransit services can be provided for individuals whose disability or health condition may prevent them from using the GMT fixed route services. Individuals who are interested in using Paratransit service must apply and be found eligible according to the eligibility guidelines presented in the GMT Paratransit Plan.

 

 

Reasonable Modification Requests and ADA Complaint Process for Persons with Disabilities

The City of Gatlinburg is committed to providing equal access and opportunity to qualified individuals with disabilities in all programs, services, and activities.  In some cases, individuals with disabilities may need reasonable modifications to policies and procedures to ensure access to transit services.  The City of Gatlinburg will provide reasonable modifications, as necessary, to afford equal access to programs for persons with disabilities.  The City of Gatlinburg will take appropriate steps to ensure that persons with disabilities have an equal opportunity to participate.
